I have Chrome steel bumpers on my truck, they look decent but I think they could look alot better. I`ve tried mothers chrome polish but it doesn`t seem to be any different then a good sealant. Can I use my PC on them with a mild polish to really bring out the shine or will the comprimise the chrome coating? these are Steel not plastic so I would think they can take a little more abuse.

You can try chrome wheel cleaner to acid clean the surface (apply to a disposable shop towel, wear gloves and be very careful), and then polish it again, with more chrome polish. Mother`s makes the powercone which can be useful for polishing with an electric drill.

I wouldn`t use anything but chrome polish on it.

The front bumper on my suburban needs some serious attention. I am experimenting with some things now and i will let you know if i find anything that works well. IME chrome is very robust so i am not going to be shy with a polisher or chemicals.

Try some #000 steelwool on them. And then polish them with any chrome polish. They will come out great. I have chrome steel wheels on my truck, and that is how I clean them some times and they come out fine

Simichrome Polish may work for you.
