Wool is for cutting or defect removal. Foam is for finishing.
Yep. That pretty much sums it up.
What exactly are you asking?
Are you asking about the purple foamed wool?
Well i guess im asking if there is foam pads that are made for cutting? i know a guy who only uses foam pads. is that wrong? im just getting back into detailing which im very good at. but not so good with buffing... so im just trying to figure out what types of pad combos people are using out there?
LC yellow and Meg`s Burgundy are foam cutting pads.
There are foam cutting pads but they are not as aggressive as wool. When it comes to serious correction wool is the way to go. Foam cutting pads tend to be very stiff, generate a lot more heat, and are harder to work with on curved surfaces.

Just use the CCS pads from LC. Recommended using 5.5" or 4" for best corrections.
Wool for correcting foam for finessing... Using foam on a rotary to actually correct can be a scary expience if you don`t know what you`re doing....
thanks guys!! i have been using the foam pads and have found that they are really hard to work with. i also have not been getting the results either! hey where can i pick these pads up that yall are mentioning? and can you recommend the compound and glaze to get with it? thanks i really would appreciate your reply!
even better could someone pair the pads with the compounds in a pic for me that would be f!@#ing awesome!! 3m products / meguiars
Newb question to add, regarding pads.
Using a PC with the 5" LC pads, approximately how many uses can I expect assuming they are washed after each use? I know there are some variables affecting the life of the pad, just looking for a general idea on how long they`ll last.
