Small town Nova Scotia, and I have some competion. I detail 30 cars or so in the summer as a sideline, all by word - of - mouth, or repeats business. Taking a wolk today I saw a sign in a store window for car detailing. Guy will wash and wax your car for $35., or $25 if you wash it before bringing it to him. Lots of dirt roads around her, can you imagine the swirls waxing it after driving to get to him. This might be a good thing for my business.

You think that`s bad? Come out to Las Vegas. Or, just check out "Automotive Services" on Craigslist here. Here`s one of the more recent ones:

    SHOW 2 $35*HAND WASH,WINDOWS,VACUUM,WIPE DASH,WIPE CENTER CONSELE,DRESS LEATHER AND DASH,DRESS TIRES,SHINE RIMS,DOOR JAMS,LIGHT CARPET STAIN REMOVEL AND LIGHT POLISH,SPRAY SPECIAL SCENT.

A "light polish" huh? Okay then. I hope these idiots aren`t getting people to fall for this stuff.

Hahaha. "Removel" is a new detailing technique--I think it`s French. Nice to see you here as well, Jerry!

Damn, 35 bucks huh? I charge 150 to do all that, and it doesn`t include a light polish whatever that may entail hahaha.

When perusing anything on the web, I trust nothing written by anyone who HOLLERS AT OTHERS W/ THEIR CAPS ON :hairpull Spelling and grammatical errors also drive me up the wall; if it reads as if a 12 y.o. wrote it then they`ve hit a brick wall.

I am so glad I do not do regular detailing. It`s a dog eat dog market out there in the detailing world.

I agree. The ironic part is that people ostensibly write in caps in order to make their ad stand out. However, the vast majority of people on Craigslist think in the same manner, so most of the ads are in caps. Therefore it`s the ads that are written "normally" that actually end up standing out.

I knew of a guy around here that had a similar advertisement. He`d wash the car with Dawn dish soap & use spray on Turtle wax. He called that a full detail.
