Depends on the shop and location. I believe my dad just priced one today for somebody for about $700 and some change. That was painting underside and blending to fenders...

nothing, it`s just chipped up really bad. I experimented fixing a chip and didn`t have any luck.

At a rate of $38 / $22 per labor hour, it`s $350 for just the hood & $550 with blending the fenders(with all trim removal). I put down 2 hours of repair time on the hood.

    What color is it?

A good painter should have no problem panel painting the hood only for this repair. Flastime is right, don`t shop price, but even expensive shops can drop the ball on a repair sometimes too. Make sure they provide a warranty in case there`s a problem down the road.

You don`t want it just repainted. That would look terrible.

You want almost the entire hood to be sanded to bare metal and original primer.

Then primed, sanded and, finally, refinished. Looks like you have chips on the

fender(s) too that should be taken care of the same way. So, basically the hood

and both fenders will need work.

Sorry, when I posted above, I was on my company`s VPN connection and because of security, pictures don`t load (so I didn`t see any until now). Yes, there is damage all over the hood and fenders which will require what Flashtime stated - complete stripe and refinish of the entire hood and front portion of the fenders. Much more labor involved now. I put 4 hrs on the hood and 2 on each fender and also came up with ~$1000. I`m sure the bumper is chipped up too?

Flashtime - What`t the prevailing rates in Cali? I`ve heard some places are super high and others pretty average?

    In this area:

    $38 Body

    $38 Refinish

    $26 Materials (what a joke)

    $65 Mechanical

    $55 Frame

This is what All State gives me. Other insurers are in the ball park.

I thought some parts of CA were over $55 just for sheetmetal and paint was $30? In Florida, we have to pay a shop`s posted mechanical rate and write the difference as a "concession". I constantly pay $160/hr without any questions. It`s hard to jamb a prevailing rate down a shop`s throat when it`s all over the map. Body related rates are a different story.

$165/hr now that would be nice. Such rates won`t be found in my neck of the hoods.

Rather than asking for concessions, i just ask for more hours. Aside from Safeco,

dealing with adjusters/appraisers from major insurers is easy and straight forward.

Over the years, i`ve established a good rapport with many of them. It`s very clear,

that they can only give so much... The latest ABRN has a good article regarding

    labor and paint rates.
