I`m planning on doing a semi-full detail to the car saturday...becuase its my homecoming...and of course, me being an autopian, I want my car to look nice for it. The main reason tho is because I need to prep the car for the upcoming winter...so why not kill 2 birds with one stone?

    Here are my 2 questions:

    1) I`m planning to strip the old wax off of the car before i glaze and wax it (i only have time for a wax and a glaze and im planning on correcting in the spring), and I have searched and found that prep-sol is a common chemical to use for this. I went to the local Autozone and all they have is Duplicolor Grease and Wax Remover. (Chemicals) ...does this stuff serve the same purpose as prep-sol? the reason I ask is because it is surrounded by paint stripper chemicals on the shelf and the back of the bottle doesnt really say 100% if its safe to use on OEM paint. :nervous2:

    2) I`m also going to polish my chrome exhaust tips as well (they`re pretty bad), and my mom`s olds. silhouette chrome rims eventually too. I found Mothers Chrome Polish in the store...which seemed to be the only "chrome" polish they had...the rest were "metal" polishes. My question is will the Mothers polish work well or are there better OTC chrome polishes I should consider?

    Thanks for your help.

    Alrite, thanks.

My other question is that i washed the olds. last week and tried out my new can of 476 on the hood using a foam applicator. I washed the applicator thouroughly with hot water after i was done and let it dry. I checked it last night and the applicator seems to have some dried wax left in it. Can I not use the applicator any more b/c the dried wax will scratch the paint, or if I wet it before I apply it to my car will I be fine? I just used the applicator for the first time just to wax the hood, it was brand new.

You should be fine with using the app. over again. I`ve never had anything left over before. Yes, spray some QD on it before using again. I also only use the app. with the same product. Depending on what glaze you use, it does not really matter what shampoo you use to wash, the glaze will take off whatever is on the paint. As to the chrome polish/cleaner, I use, I think it`s called Blue Magic.

My final question relating to this.

    Clay

    Prepsol

    Glaze

    Wax

    LSP

^^^Is the correct process for using the prep-sol on a full detail?

Yes, I would use prep-sol immediately prior to polishing.
    My stable includes a 2019 Toyota Avalon and a 2016 BMW 550i.

...And after final polishing/before lsp to get out fillers/oils making assuring that the defects have truly been removed and not masked.

To wipe down? Use MF`s. Vrooms should be ok as long as they are 30/70 non-waffle weave.
