When I use FK425, I`m getting some streaking. Could a couple of you experts tell me how much you use per panel and if you spray directly on or spray the pad.

I have a Lexus with several coats of UPGP. I have been spraying FK425 directly on the panels with several squirts (3-5) to "mist" the whole panel before wiping with a MF. Am I using too much? Should I go back over it with another MF?

    Thanks,

    bw

sounds like you`re using too much. spray one good ample spray, spread with a mf towel, and then flip it over and buff off...

Sounds like too much product. I have applied both ways and couldn`t really say which way is better. When you go back over it with a MF do the streaks disappear?

I agree that it sounds like too much product. 1 spray should be more than enough even for a large panel. The other thing that can cause streaking with 425 is if the panel is too warm.

i use 425 with upgp and you are definitely using to much. also heat and direct sun are not you friends when using 425.

I agree, I use it over UPGP and never had a streaking problem.

I got streaking too the first few times. I was trying to treat it like a cleaning QD such as ONR at QD ratio where I apply it pretty liberally.

I think I`ll reserve FK425 for use while drying cars, I`m just not confident that it`s all that good for removing dust etc as it has to be used pretty conservatively to prevent streaking.

Thanks all. I will try less product and yes, I have been using it as a QD for light dust. I have my concerns with that as well, especially with the soft Lexus paint, however, I will be polishing in a week or two so I was giving FK425 a try instead of my usual ONR.

Their 146 is supposed to be more for cleaning light dust than the 425.

Heh heh, I was just about to post that :xyxthumbs

Yeah, the FK146 does clean better/safer and leaves things almost as nice as FK425. It`s probably just me, but I like FK146 better than QD-strength ONR.
