new wheels: apply wax/sealant?

I bought some brand new wheels and they never been mounted or seen tires. Would it help protect the finish if I applied any type of wax or sealant? I have Meguairs gold class wax, Meguairs show glaze #7, and Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze laying around. The rims are a royal gold with polish lip finish.

I would probably seal them after you get tires mounted and balanced but before you mount the wheels on the car. At the tire shop, they`ll often use Acrysol type product before sticking on your wheel weights, and they`re not always careful about only using it where the weight is going. I`m sure whatever they are using is going to be detrimental to whatever you have protecting it, so if you do it afterward, your wheel weight will bond well and your brand new rollers will be protected.

Maybe give the Poorboy`s a try, that or the Wolfgang sealant.

I`ve had great success with Poorboys Wheel Sealant.



Its made for wheels, and its melting point is past 400 degrees!

I say use which ever is more dispensable.



They`ll all peform equally in terms of maintaining a slick finish to repel brake dust and dirt and make washing a snap. Longevity might vary slightly but you could always test the 3 products on each wheel if your really that concerned with extending your wax intervals.
