Cotton does release completely but can scratch, regardless of where it`s made.Quote:

Nothing personal Paul, but I have a few issues with some of their statements:

The smaller the diameter, the softer the fabric will feel. This does not mean, however, that it is not abrasive or will not scratch. .......
Then why mention it if it appears relative after all?Quote:
Compare our terrycloth with those of other manufacturers.
The first thing you will notice is how much softer it is. ........
Hmmmmmmmm, one could probably make any MF scratch is they work at it....I also know of quite a few suppliers/distributors who sell towels from the Orient, that DONT scratch under normal circumstances/situations.Quote:
In fact, most microfiber cloths that come from the orient are polyester microfiber and will most likely scratch the surface of your car.
Am I an authority on MF`s? Nope, but I do have some experience with a few.....:woohoo:
Don`t apologise...I didn`t write it. :chuckle:
I only referenced that page because it highlights `AlpineMicrofiber`. I`ve never used it but a few people I know whom I respect speak highly of it, as they do of quality synthetic MFs. The poster was concerned about synthetic MF which has a tendancy to hold on to contaminants. Natural MF is absorbent but because the fibres aren`t split they release contaminants.
*I`ve* only used synthetic MF and 95% of mine don`t scratch. The ones that do have been demoted to grunge duty.
I agree that there are sevaral high-quality MF towels available from reputable online vendors. But if you want the best, Pakshak would get my vote. I really like their "ultra-smooth" and "ultra-plush" towels

I know what MF towels you are referring to from Costco. I have them as well, and I can tell you that they have absolutely no business being anywhere near a cars paint!
Those MF`s from Costco actually become more brittle after washing! We use them for cleaning around the house (counter-tops, sinks etc) NOT for car detailing (on the paint anyway).

I use Meguiar`s MF towels on my car and haven`t had any scratching issues.
The fabric softener will cause the WW to not absorb as readily as they used to. Hopefully one time one be that bad for them and a good wash will get them back to normal.Quote:

I use MF from CG and Excel and I was them with CG`s MF wash.
