Polishing Polished Aluminum Wheels?

I have a set of centerline telstars that look basically like ProStar Wheels. They are polished aluminum with NO clear coat on it. They had HEAVY oxidation on them so I polished them with Mothers Power Metal Polish. They look a hundred times better except in certain light you can see scratches and swirl marks... What should I use to take them out? I was under the impression that this polish wouldn`t have left scratches like that.



I used a buffing wheel on a drill to start out to get most of the heavy oxidation off then switched to doing it by hand with soft terry clothe rags/towel`s.



Are the terry clothe towel`s too rough and thats what is scratching the aluminum? Should I use a MF towel instead?

I`d hit it with some 2000 or 3000 sand paper and then polish it again. It`s similar to removing deep scratches in paint.

I follow up Mothers Power Metal with Mothers Billet......(all by hand)



For non clear coated aluminum wheels, two steps always looks better....



And, I finish them off with Z2p and Z-CS to preserve the efforts....



Bottom line, keep them dry and wipe them down when they get wet.....

Just to let everyone know that I got the wheels looking like a mirrior with NO scratches or swirls. I used the "NEW" Mothers Metal Molish. It comes in a little white tub I forgot the name. With that I used the Mother`s Power Ball Mini and let me tell you it was the BEST investment I have made yet. The powerball cleans the entire wheel in 5 min. to a mirrior shine.

Mother`s Billet Metal Polish or Mag & Aluminum Polish?

Don`t know what he LTCamaro used, but I second the Mother`s Mag and Aluminum Polish and Mini Powerball for wheels. The stuff works good on my aluminum air cleaner as well. But, once done, put some kind of LSP to preserve the works as much as possible.

I used the mag and alum. polish and I think it worked the best with the powerball.



I also think that the Power Metal is the most Abrasive then the mag and alum. then the billet.



I always finish the job with Mother`s billet by hand then top it with some z-5 and Clear Seal, for a lasting finish.
