    Hi guys,

So I decided to clay my car (2005 MB C class) and overall the clay did an amazing job.

One slight problem, which was totally my fault , is that I clayed one of the chrome strips along the side of my car before I realized what a bad idea it was.

The first picture shows how the strips should look. Second image shows the damage .

Does anyone know if this is indeed chrome or some kind of other material?

Any ideas on what I can do to get those scratches out would be greatly appreciated.

I tried some very light buffing compound on a small portion by hand, and it helped but only a tiny bit.

    Thanks! This forum is awesome.

I have this same `problem` on my chrome stripping only to a lesser degree. A UDM on the chrome didn`t make things worse, but didn`t take anything out. Not to say it wouldn`t with the right product.

I just really don`t know,.. I don`t believe these strips are chrome through and through,.. but if they are then it could feasibly be repaired by polishing the metal.

Someone will chime in with some idea hopefully, and we can both benefit

Such is life, make mistakes and learn from them =/ -- It is just a sick feeling to mess something up when you had the best intentions of only making things look better.

This isn`t definite, but I think you`ll find that the strips are a ABS plastic chrome-plated.

I`d try a plastic polish, but IMO, if you want it perfect, replacing it is the way to go.

So someone suggested I try Klasse AIO since it is a very fine polish, and after a *LOT* of polishing, it`s looking much better.

I`m interested in more replies on this topic as well.

I have slight scratches in my chrome stripping -- Would like to know of any `safe` steps to correct or fill them. If any exist. If not, I just leave it as is of course.
