    hey fellow autopians,



    i recently acquired a used stainless steel race header. i know i won`t be able to get it back to its original sheen, but suggestions on what to use?

    after 10 mins with brass wire brush and wenol red





    any help on how to fix this up to 20% of autopian standards? i just wanna see the silver back.

    you`re going to need a felt wheel and some rouge and tripoli, maybe some number 2 compound.

    Buffing wheel on a grinder is probably your only bet. Start with grit wheels, move up to soft wheels and rouge.
    Once you buff black, you never go back

    Personally I`d just send them to Jet-Hot and have them coated. Better thermal efficiency (hotter exhaust gas flows more quickly) and they will look nice.

    thanks everyone for your reply. so it seems i`ll have to use a grinder and some metal polish compound.



    i did use a felt mushroom on my drill with some wenol and that didn`t work at all. is there something easier like using some sort of chemical peel?



    btw, it`s a jackson racing race header.

    Would steel wool with Meguiar`s Mag and Aluminum polish work? Worth a shot?

    I`d have it blasted with whatever media works best on that (beads, sand, shells, etc.).
