    ....this fender.

I am a dealer and just took in an Infiniti M35x with some badly painted panels.

This is a shot of the driver side fender...

I know I will have to hit it with sand paper my question is....

I have 2000 grit on hand will it be enough to remove that sort of OP or do I have to step down to 1000 or 1500??

Without knowing how thick the paint is I`d say stick with 2000 and live with the results, Infiniti`s have bad OP from the factory so it might blend better afterwards

Ouch that`s some OP. Try a spot. It might be in the base coat or clear or both. Might have to have it resprayed.

You can hit aftermarket paint pretty hard if it`s good, but poor paint is going to fold under wetsanding. If I was sure of the quality, I`d say go with 1200 on an air sander.

In this case, start with 2000 and see if you can live with the results. If not, based on the poor quality of the repair, I wouldn`t go lower than 1500.

Thanks for the great info peeps....

well it feel like it is the clearcoat. I was going to go straight for the 1500 but I will try and see what the 2000 will do!

    I`ll keep ya`ll updated...
