Lets be honest, there are many people out there that think that detailing is an easy task that anyone can do. In fact some believe that you can just watch a video and then just got for it. Well the facts are that the information is out there, but how do you know what is good information and what is bad? "You tube" is one such area where many go to see videos of various detailer cleaning and shining up a vehicle. There are many videos that are good and give valuable input and then there are other videos that are poorly done and are not worth the time of day.

I am going to start this off by using this video from youtube......

YouTube - Car Detailing : Removing Scratches

What`s wrong with the video? There are many subtle things, but the most obvious issue is that he never shows you the scratch, or how it was corrected. See if you can find other things wrong.

You can also place links to other videos that you may think are not that informative.

I have seen a bunch of videos from this "Expert Village" on youtube. I think you guys can confirm we just found the village idiot! Almost all of their videos are horrendous. They have another guy using tire foam to clean the interior dash. Can you say foggy windows in a day or two ha..ha..! UNBELIEVABLE....and they only get worse unfortunately....

The interior one with the Armour-All is hillarious. He just goes to town with it!

Also he is letting the cord hang against the paint when he`s polishing, hang it over your shoulder dude!

edit: I had to comment on the third one lol...

For one, it looks like he uses his same "compound" in his second step, claiming he is going to use a less aggressive product. Also, it look like the same exact pad that he used in the first step he uses again, right after he tells you never to use different products on the same pad.

A porter cable operating @ 3000 RPM? I guess he knows its a orbital and should be measured in OPM. Also, detailing with a watch on? Tsk, Tsk...

"Don`t forget to let the cord drag along the fender as much as possible in this process... electrical cords are great for removing fender scratches"

I love how anyone w/ a bottle of wax and a PC is automatically an expert. What a hack.
