Yeah, I went to a couple of HD`s and called a few more with the UPC number, and none of them have the sponge. All they carry are the packaged ones

Is there a very big difference between the packaged ones versus the non packaged ones?

I went to my Home Depot and they have the individually wrapped ones, and they look almost identical to the picture of the non-packaged ones.

The only difference that I`ve found is that the packaged ones are just a bit stiffer. I haven`t tried the stiffer ones with an ONR wash on softer pain but they do work fine for a traditional wash on softer paint. They also work fine on normal-hard paint for ONR washes.

And sea sponges are more expensive.

Have ya`ll ever seen these things?

It`s really, really soft and when it gets wet it`s almost "slick". My Dad bought one a while back and of course me being on this board I was against all things sponge. I used it a few times on wheels and it cleaned really well.

Something to think about, it says it`s from "greece" as well. It`s a buck so so more then than grout sponge though...

Get them really cheap here - Riviera Brush - Sponges

The ones from Greece go for 85 cents if you by 4800 (12 bales). Group buy? :woot:

Yep, and they don`t introduce marring and clean with a little extra "bite" than washmitts in my experience. I didn`t have the same confidence with *my* HD grout sponge as it felt "scratchy" compared to my SS.

I think people need to be sure of the exact product number so they get the right sponge. Mine was a light brown, not orange as pictured. I`m all for trying it, especially at $2, but next time I`ll be sure to get the correct sponge.

I went to home depot today and I they had 6 packs and individual wrapped grout sponges. I needed the sponges for something else anyways so I got a six pack for $10. Hell if anything I will use them on engines and tires / rims.

Anyways here is what they look like:

Nope, didn`t use it. But why would I when I stood there feeling both in my hands and the HD felt rougher/scratchier. I don`t think it was the same one though as you had pictured. Violentveedub thanks for the link to that Grecian sponge at Advanced, it sounds good.

Did you at least get it wet in wash solution? Give it a try on a fender or something that you can polish out easily. You`ll likely be pleasantly surprised.

And that`s exactly what I want to know (ONR with Grout Sponge on Honda paint) but really don`t want to try since I have no visible (to me) marring, and I don`t want to introduce any!

Just a heads up, call me slow but I did just notice the one SM posted says Made in Greece and the ones I bought and I am assuming most others bought say Made in USA.

Either way they will get used up.
