I`m wondering where I should go to buy my touchup paint. Normally I`d just choose the dealer, but I`ve heard some people mention that the match isn`t that good. The car is a 1993 Acura, metallic purple.

These probably aren`t the actual names, check out paintscratch.com and automotivetouchup.com (or names that are similar). Both have been OK IME/IMO.
I had bad luck with PaintScratch last time for touch-up paint. Of course I gave them the year, make, model, and color code. After 2 tries they still didn`t get it right and I was out $60 for paint I can`t use.
FYI ... YRMV ... :nixweiss
Ah, I see. Well, it`s going to be a pretty inconspicuous and small area so I don`t think it`ll be much of a problem.
I hope your luck is better .... maybe I just happen to have paint that is the 1 in a million they can`t match.
I wouldn`t be surprised if the YMMV thing *really* applies to this one. The Paintscratch stuff matches my E36 M3`s Byzanz metallic *great* and my pewter metallic Blazer *very* well, the AutomotiveTouchup stuff matches my Yukon XL just OK. I bet it coulda just as well gone the othe way.
And IMO metallics are always a crapshoot anyhow.
