hey all i was reading this thread on here about a guy that wants to dirty up his car and read a part on there that made me think. about 3 years ago my car was keyd about 8 times on the driver door. and i took it to the pontiac dealership and i thought it looked great and i thought they re painted the whole door. but now that i have become more into detaling i have noticed ifyou look real real close in the light you can still see lines where the scratches were. nobody can notice it until i point out where the lines are. could they have just filled in the scratches or is it just me.

they might have painted the whole thing but not filled/high-build primed it and sanded out the key marks to get a flat substrate. if the keymarks were very strongly imprinted, it`s likely that they painted over the indentations in the metal and that`s what you`re seeing.
