Okay guys!! You are going to think this is a strange one.

I recently visited my parents on our family farm. We were on the farm for a week. My new Acura sat outside the entire time and of course got very dirty with the flies crapping on the finish and dust from the dirt lane. I was unable to wash the car due to water shortages:hairpull so the bugs from the 12 hour drive baked onto the nose the entire week. Can anyone give me pointers on how to remove fly crap and bugs? I have a 3m bra on the front of the car which also has fly crap on it. I just polished the car before the trip so I would rather not strip the polish off with the clay bar or a cleaner. I know that must sound lazy. :hide:

I spent many hours last night trying to get the nasty fly crap and bugs off the 3m film. Any product pointers would be appreciated.

I can usually just spray the bugs off the front of my Jeep since I keep Meguiars UQD on there.. If you just polished it, did you have a LSP on it? I would think the bug would come right off if you had a good LSP on it.

    Have you washed it yet?

I just learned this weekend that flies don`t crap, they vomit.

Could be BS, but just figured I`d throw that in for fun.

I`m sorry I don`t get much time to spend on this forum and am embarassed to admit that don`t know what LSP stands for. Can you fill me in? I put one cost of Z2 on the 3m product and then wiped it down with Z6. The rest of the body has one coat of Z5 and one coat of Z2. I have no problems getting the bugs off of my vette which has a 3m bra as well. However, I don`t let the bugs bake on the vette for a week. That and the vette has a lot more Zaino on it.

LSP=last step product.. wax.. sealant.. whatever

Ahh, ok, I didnt think about the bugs baking on there all week. It would probably be easiest to just clay the front end then put whatever you had on there back on.. It shouldnt take very long to do just the front.. haha, sorry if you do not feel like doing that..

Can 3m film be clayed without damage? I have never clayed the 3m on my vette and it has been on the car for 4 years.

Yes the front wouldn`t take long to reaply Z, but the fly crap is all over the the body. I managed to get the crap off the wheels but didn`t have the same luck with the body.

Oh...believe me it was driving me crazy that I couldn`t wash my ride the entire week.:hairpull I don`t like having a dirty ride. When we were visiting my parents I even had a dream where I got excited because I finally found some time to wash the vette. As soon as the new tires are on put on this weekend she is getting a wash. Of course some probably wouldn`t see the vette as dirty when I do.:grinno:

I have the clear bra 3M on my Acura and I clay the film. Just be a little more gentle but I`ve never have any problems doing so. I try to keep a fresh coat of Zaino on my 3M as much as possible since I do lots of highway driving.
Converted over to ONR & now Lowes grout sponge. Protected by 3M clear bra, and one layer of Zaino is all you need!

I may have to try claying the 3m. I think that maybe the only way I can get the nasty bugs off.

Does anyone know anything about removing fly crap?

How about some simple Bug & Tar Remover? Or if you`re a bit adventurous and careful maybe try some WD-40 on them, then follow quickly with a car wash solution to remove the WD-40.
