Best way to remove razor blade cuts in clear cut

I have a few cuts that were likely made by a razor blade near the edges of the hood panel. Looks like they are well within the clearcoat of my Black Saphire BMW paint. Is there anyway to polish these out. Luckily, they are along the edge of the panel, so I thought I could blend the cuts with the paint back toward the panel edges. One guy mentioned wetsanding with 2000 grit sandpaper then following up with a milder polish. Any ideas?

From what is sounds like, I agree, you`ll need to wetsand and then buff the marks out. If too deep, then you may need to get some touch up paint as well and lightly fill in what marks don`t come out.

wetsanding sounds like the right way to go.

They might be too deep to take right out. Another problem might be the location. Close to an edge is a hard place to wetsand and buff, without running to risk of going through.

Personally, i would probably settle on a light wetsand and buff to reduce the appearance of the cuts.

Thanks guys, so 2000 grit would be okay or do you recommend something finer? Never used sandpaper on a car finish before, any particular type?

As far as the final polish is concernined, all I have is an old bottle of Meguiers #2 and my new Zaino All In One. So not sure if I need something else. Would like to do this this weekend, so it will have to be something you can pickup at your local stores.

Good luck not sanding through the clear if it`s near the edge. How would you feel if you burned through? I`d much rather live with minor scratches instead of a burn mark/repaint on on of the highest appearance panel on your vehicle.

You could get some clear touchup paint, thin it and try to fill the scratches that way. I agree with the others, leveling the scratch at the edge is going to be VERY risky. Even if you don`t burn through the clear now, you will sooner or later and the only fix for that is a re-paint.
