Gritty cars

Hey,



I`ve been having a problem this year with my car detailing. I`ll wash the car as usual, and then I`ll proceed to pull it in the garage for the rest of the job, and within literally about 5-10 minutes, the car is gritty, as if it were never washed. I`ve been detailing for years now and have never experienced this. My neighborhood is a construction zone now again but it`s a ways away and they aren`t always building while I`m washing, so I don`t see how that could be causing that much of a problem. Could it be pollen? It`s not yellow like the crap I see on my grand prix the morning after I wash it, so I don`t necessarily think that`s it either.



Anyone else know about this? It`s quite discouraging.

It could just be dust in the air.



Around here in the spring it is usually very windy. Doesn`t take long for a layer of dust to build up on the car after a wash.

hmm, had much rain lately? If not it could be dust in the air that settles on the paint. Can you wipe the grit off?

yea if you cant wipe off the grit, its probably bonded contaminants, but Im sure you would know if you needed to clay.

Yeah if I pour some water on it, it comes right off. It may be dust but it feels harder, almost like drywall dust, only not quite that bad. Kinda just sticks to the paint. When I was claying the other day I actually had to wipe down the panels I was going to do with a wet rag right before I started, even though I had washed it like 15 minutes prior.

wow that pretty weird, let us know if you figure it out. im sure it will stop soon, probably just something in the air.
