Why don`t you try some liquid tar remover. (for example autoglym intensive tar remover). Apply..let it soak for a while..brush a little and then wash with a lot of water.

Stoner Tarminator will get it off pretty quick. It is available just about anywhere.

Tarminator is also good for getting greasy stains out of carpet.

Came across this problem this morning. Black tar in spots on alloy wheels. Claying did not do a thing. Used One Grand Bug/Tar/Wax remover on a piece of terry towel and came off very easily. Most tar removers are safe for cc. Wash with auto shampoo and rewax/reseal.

Another vote for Tarminatior, absolutely awesome product.

    BTW, which stores carry it?

Yeah - I used Tarminator recently on big globs of black tar that had been caked on some of the lower panels of a vehicle for years.

Sprayed the Tarminator on - let it sit for a few minutes, sprayed tarminator on a terry cloth and gently wiped off - no problem. The tarminator removed 90-95% of the tar and claying removed the rest.

As someone said above - I would recommend re-washing and then sealing/waxing the area treated with the Tarminator.

Target had it on clearance for $1.84 something like that not to long ago.

WD-40 won`t hurt the paint. Many people use it all the time for tar removal including me. I`d be surprised if the active ingredients in Tarminator were much different than what is in WD-40. As others have said, wash the area and reapply your LSP after using Tarminator or WD-40.

i`ve used tarminator and such also. what I have found that I like alot though is meguiar`s body solvent. spray, let sit, wipe off. EASY! it also works great on caked on bugs and such.
