Hello, Yes I am a newbie!!

I have a 2 year old set of mickey thompson classic II aluminum wheels on my 2005 ram.

Well they were clear coated until I took acid wheel cleaner to them by accident. Now they have no mirror finish like before and mothers wheel cleaner or mothers billet aluminum wheel cleaner has worked me to death, although it does look a lot better. I just cannot get the shine I once had.

Has anyone had this happen and know of a product or kit that I could purchase that is proven to bring back a mirror finish? Or am I just going to have to live with the slight hazy finish?

    thanks!!

If the wheels are clear coated don`t use a metal cleaner or metal polish on them. Use a regular paint polish. I would use a good paint polish and a polishing bit on the end of a drill or air grinder to get into the wheel better.

If you haven`t gone through the clear, just polish like you would paint. If you have, you`ll need to have them stripped, polished and recleared. Bare aluminum wheels are a PITA.

If you`re using a metal polish and getting black on the rag, you`ve gone through the clear.

Perhaps a good AIO would help get rid of some of the hazing.

I would try the Mothers Polish Ball with some fine polish first to see if they come back...if you see results and not quite there yet repeat the step...you may need to step up on the polish to a little more agressive one...but do not use any metal polish if they are clearcoated...

But try a polish like OP first to see if it clears up some...or mothers power polish ..if the clear is in tack you should be able to get it done

Mothers Polish ball works very well. I use it with Klasse AIO on my wheels. If that does not work, you can try some Clearkote Metal Polish.
