Glass cleaners.

My windshield and the rest of the windows are full of the little scratches, those nasty water spots and some rock chips. Is there anything I could do to make them better? The regular Windex does nothing. What are some good products that you use and Work? Would the paint scratch remover work on the windshield? Also, can I sand paper the windows to make it look better? I tried that on my headlights and it worked well but I don`t know if it works on glass. I don`t to make them look even worse. Thanks for any advices.

Start with a claybar

nope, clay won`t scratch, but I have a window sort of like yours on my dad`s van. I`m still trying to figure out what to do with it.



I`m pretty sure that after a good claying, you`ll need to polish it.

No, detailing clay won`t scratch glass. It`s very effective at removing the film of grime that accumulates, but won`t help with scratches and chips.



There are special glass polishes that can remove fine scratches but I gather that it takes the right equipment and skill to get good results.



Replacing your windshield might be your best bet.

Oh, and forget about the sandpaper. That would just make things much worse.

Try a product called Glass Scrub. It is a gel like stuff that you apply while window is wet. When you take it off, your window looks amazing.

For water spots there are a few things you can use. The cheapest to try first is distilled white vinegar followed with a wash or glass cleaner. If that doesn`t work the following thread talks about another product:

You could also try Spot-X from Home Depot.



The Glass Scrub mentioned earlier might work well too, but I haven`t read much about it.



The rock chips are most likely too deep to remove. If you have light scratches the best way to remove them is to use a Glass Polishing Compound. Several companies sell a kit for doing this like the one Eastwood sells:

That is the stuff, and that is where I got it. They are local for me. It did more for me than Claying my window does. This stuff for $4 is amazing. But not the easiest stuff to use since you have to use it while wet.
