A durable sealant on your vehicles paint is a must. My go to is Zaino z5pro because of the stunning looks, and long term durability. Another thing I recommend is treating your locks to a lock de-icer, and lubricant. My locks were freezing but after a quick shot of the stuff, they work great.

Sealing your wheels is also a good idea. It`ll help protect them from road salt.

If you know it`s going to snow/ice/rain that evening, pull your windshield wipers up off the glass the night before. It`ll extend the life of your wiper blades since you won`t have to rip them off the glass to scrape. Makes cleaning the windshield a whole lot easier, as well.

Get a SnowBrum to clean snow off the car. Traditional snow brushes will scratch like crazy...the SnowBrum, while not perfect, is about as good as it gets with regards to non-abrasive snow removal tools.

Regarding snow removal tools that are used on the paint...

Any tool, whether it`s of a nonabrasive material or not, can scratch the paint if the paint is dirty underneath. It`s the same principle as drying your car with a nonabrasive towel, or washing your car with a nonabrasive mitt. The dirt/salt/etc is what usually scratches the car.
