I am going to detail my car next week and I ordered some stuff online. I was wondering if this is the correct order.

    Meguiars gold car wash

    Mothers clay bar system

    Mothers Carnauba Cleaner Wax

3m Perfect-It Show Car Liquid Wax (this stuff is synthetic right?) :think2

    P21S Carnauba Wax

    Mothers Showtime Quick Detail

The car is a Infiniti G35 Twilight Blue (dark blue pearl)

I got some more products and would like an update, please scroll down to see my newer post...

Ditch either the 3m or P21S.

The order looks ok and as suggested I would also drop one of the waxes.

I do however have a slight concern.

Since your G35 is dark blue you may have some problems with visible marring from the clay. None of the products that you have listed will remove marring or swirling. You will have to step up to some sort of abrasive polish to remove blemishes.

Also I guess you intended to do this by hand? If so I would test the clay on a small area then take it from there.

Welcome to Autopia by the way. Good luck with your addiction

Thanks for the welcom. I will be doing all by hand.

I also have a "3M Perfect-It II Foam Polishing Pad Glaze" , but I didn`t think that would be good to apply to the whole car? Also, is there anything that needs to go on top of the wax or is that the final layer? (whats a sealer?)

Also, I am confused about the Mothers Carnauba Claner Wax, at first I thought this was to be used to clean off the old wax, but now I am getting the impression that this is a wax initself?

    Mothers Carnauba Cleaner Wax

3m Perfect-It Show Car Liquid Wax (this stuff is synthetic right?)

    P21S Carnauba Wax

I`d pick one of the 3 (if the 3M is synthetic, then use that with P21s on top if you want the wettest look), and purchase a light swirl remover like SSR1. It works great by hand to remove marring from clay. My car is also a dark blue pearl.

Pepboys (not Wal-mart) should carry everything in your list except the P21S. I recommend getting S100 instead of P21S - it`s practically the same thing (search Autopia for their comparisons). Plus, S100 is available at the local Harley-Davidson shop.

In all honesty, I would do this (assuming you have some of stuff above already, have no marring, and you do NOT want to order online):

    1. Meguiar`s GC Wash

    2. Meguiar`s Smooth Clay system (comes with clay AND a QD that you can use in step 5).

    3. S100 Shine-Enhancing Paint Cleanser (available at Harley Davidson)

    4. S100 Wax (available at Harley Davidson as well)

    5. QD with the QD-product that came with the clay system in step 3.

Of course, if your car has marring then you would want to correct that first.

Yes, except the S100 stuff which you have to get at the local Harley-Davidson motorcycle shop. You can get both the S100 wax AND cleanser for less than P21S wax...

I`m in Dallas too so I know you can find all of the above locally.
