Just over a week ago, the car behind me bumped into my TSX at a stop sign. The damage was some light scratching and 3 small chips, so I decided to try a repair instead of repainting the whole bumper. The chips were down to the plastic of the bumper.

I took it to a detail shop and the owner told me that it would be $60 to remove the scratches and repair the chips. Seeing how I have no tools and really wanted a professional repair, that seemed like a fair deal. BTW, the girl who hit me is paying for this.

Anyway, I took the car in today and the results of the repair are completely unacceptable. It looks like they just took the paint pen, wiped it across the chip and called it done. The outline of the original chip is clearly visible and the touch-up paint is rough and still below the level of the surrounding paint. I`ve attached a (fuzzy) picture of the "repair".

Also, they didn`t get all the scratches out, claiming that they were were worred about lifting the paint off the bumper. The scratches are less an issue to me than the chips though.

I`m torn as to whether I even want to take the car back to these guys as I don`t trust them to fix it, but I need to do something.

How should I handle fixing the chips given their current condition?

    Thanks

Is that touch up paint? Do you know? If it is, you can always use Langka to remove it yourself. Then you can always try repairing it yourself with touchup, wetsand, polish. Looks small enough so that this might provide acceptable results.

If the girl is paying for it, why not just repaint the entire rear bumper?

Because a clown like this guy could make it look even worse, there are some really bad painters out there.

It looks like that idiot used white-out or something that was totally the wrong color. Check this guide out and do the repair yourself:

No one will spend as much time as you can getting it touched up correctly.
