I have a black `04 Xterra to detail next week. I`ve inspected the vehicle and noticed all the black plastic trim/cladding, especially the grille, looks kinda weathered. The grille is kinda splotchy in appearance and the black cladding just looks dull and lifeless. What type of product can I use on this stuff that I can buy locally? I already have AIO and VM which I might try since they both remove oxidation and are safe on trim. The customer (my co-worker) wants me to try to revive the trim, but I have never dealt with this much plastic trim before. Any suggestions??

Although I can`t speak from personal experience, there was a good thread on Poorboy`s trim restoring product that yielded excellent results.

I`ve tried the dinky version of Forever Black that was like a squeeze bottle with an attached foam applicator at the tip and it stunk. It went on extremely thin so it didn`t cover adequately, and it wouldn`t cover evenly so it streaked like no other.

I`ve had success with Bondo Restore Black which I picked up at Wally World for like 8 bucks. Curiously, the box had the same pictures as the Forever Black box, but it was a gel-like product and worked pretty well on my bumpers and trim on both my 560SL and 190E. The grill on my SL was badly weathered and literally grey though, so I just repainted it with Krylon Fusion`s Satin Black and it looked brand new.
