I noticed some tar and bug marks on the hood on my new Z. So I went to AutoZone and bought TurtleWax Bug and Tar remover and a bug and tar sponge. Both products state that they are safe and won`t scratch the paint. Well I did use a circular motion when trying to remove the marks. Later I noticed swirl marks in a few areas. What should I do? What is the best way to remove them? Is it really even possible to do remove them completely? I am located in Washington DC any recomendations for a detailer?

    thanks in advance

If the scratches are minor, and you don`t have a polisher, you can try some Meg`s ScratchX by hand. Below is a link that shows how to use it:

You should be able to buy ScratchX locally, but be sure to wax when you are finished to add some protection.

Edit: You sure can`t beat the offer made by spendyg for some free help! :2thumbs:

I did the exact same thing with the exact same products. The bug and tar sponge is NOT safe. Meguiars Scratch X worked perfectly!!
