I am pretty much ocd with detailing my car, and I have a lot of experience doing it. But I CANNOT figure out for my life what is on my paint, mostly on the front right fender and hood. I am starting to think i might have over polished (I have used ssr2.5 twice in the past) Clay does not take it off, cleaner wax does not take it off, hell even 2.5 wont take it off. Does anyone recognize what this is? Im SO frustrated. looks like millions of tiny dots everywhere. Could it be from the ssr2.5? do i need a finishing polish or something? it is really noticeable in sunlight.

yiks . . . what the hell is that? Perhaps you should take a small portion of the effected area with a yellow cutting pad and change your polish to another reputable brand (not knocking poorboys, their stuff rocks - but never hurts to introduce somthing new into your problem, you might just find a soloution) . . . and cut that paint!!! If a yellow cutting pad on a pc at high speed with good, properly applied compound wont remove that - i would say you need professional rotary help or your paint has some issues that might require wet/color sanding . . . im not a pro however, but there is a start.

My (mostly) uneducated guess would be that this is a repaint and you`re seeing solvent pop, sometime called bubbling clearcoat. If that`s it, then all the polishing in the world isn`t going to fix it, it would be a paint warranty issue.

Solvent pop or the clear was put on "dry". Definitely been repainted though.

I have it on my re-painted hood,

    M80 did nothing to it...

just have to learn to live with it.
