I`ve searched on some glass cleaning techniques and products, and I found that many use newspaper to clean the windows.

From what I`m aware of, isn`t the purpose of using newspaper to use its ink as sort of some kind of polisher? Since it would be semi-abrasive...

But now newspapers are printed with water-based inks, so doesn`t this make using newspaper pointless? The only result would be dirty hands and windows?

Is there another reason to use newspapers instead of some short-napped MF towels?

    Just a little confused... :nixweiss

It used to be a decent way to clean glass but today, MF`s are the way. Some still swear by newspaper but try the MF towels with your favorite glass cleaner or even water on a fairly clean surface and I`ll bet you are happy with the results plus you`ll walk away with clean hands.

I`m still a fan of using glass cleaner and newspaper... Always leaves a great streak free finish. Make sure you use real newspaper and not the stuff in phone books(I have a bunch laying around). I tried that last weekend and it left weird streaks of ink that I had to use regular newspaper to get off lol

I used newspaper once and won`t do it again. The ink got wet and ran onto the seats. It came off easily but I don`t want to chance it again.

I think some people started using newspapers because they don`t leave lint like a cotton towel would. However, now that there are good MF glass towels I think that is the way to go.

Thanks for insight, are the glass MF towels specifically tailored for that purpose, or would an ordinary "grunge" MF towel do? (like the ones by Vroom or Viking sold at local targets and kmarts)

Grunge towels will work but I find the ones designed for glass are a bit better. I use IG and a MF and it leaves a streak free finish.

I prefer newspaper. It leaves a streak-free finish, and no lint. I`ve never had a problem with stained hands or ink running onto anything.

Without newspaper you can`t get that hobo shine!

Seriously, MF towels are great for cleaning glass.

The Viking glass MF`s are a pretty good OTC choice.

I usually use either 2 MF`s (1 to clean, 1 for final wipe) or if it`s really bad, paper towel to clean, and 1 MF for the final wipe.
