Hi, I just purchased a new porter cable 7424SP today. My problem is, the unit is a new old stock item. The local hardware closed them out over five years ago, and I went by there today, and they had one display model left, and one brand new in the box item left. I purchased the new one. Did I make a mistake in purchaseing a new old stock item, or should I have purchased a current production model?

    Thanks.

It doesn`t really matter as long as it works and does the job.

Thanks for the reply. I want to polish my 2003 Lincoln Town Car, but I only had my Snap-on buffer, which is really a good machine, but too heavy. My paint is in good condition, but it could use a good wax/polish. How well will the Porter Cable do this job?

Its as good as your product selection, as well as your ability to make it work for you. Theres some tips and tricks here in the forum, keep "search"ing.....

I think i would have picked up both of them if they were under $100.00.......

How much did you pay for it you don`t mind me asking? If it was a good price I`d go and get the other one. You could put a 4" backing plate on one and a 6" on the other. Read up and you`ll love the results you`ll achieve.
