So after you get the scratches,swirls, etc with polish and a hard cutting pad, what do you do to just maintain the cars finish? Do you just wax it? Or do you have to repeat the whole process of cutting with a pad?

Just a wax every month or so. If your finish needs another polishing in a few weeks then you really need to refine your wash techniques to reduce the marring in the first place so you won`t have to correct them.

you need to step down to a less abrasive pad and product before going to the wax stage
