As I sit here and make a list of projects I have to do for my car before the cold season fully arrives, one that sparks in my memory is what to use (detailing wise) to prep my car for the winter. I`ll start:

    -Optimum Clay

-Optimum Polish via rotary and LC Polishing Pad @ 1200 rpm

-Menzerna PO85RD via rotary and LC Finishing Pad @ 1500 rpm

    -4* UPP x 3-4

-FK1 Pink Wax every month or so

-Black trim will be cleaned with GR-40 then sealed with the GR plastic clearcoat

-Respray wheel well padding (rubber stuff in a bottle) in the rear wells

-Polish exhaust and seal with Zaino

    Your turn...

I`ve decided to go with Zaino for this winter, which is the first time in a few years that I`ve done so. My primary reasoning was the introduction of Z8. I`ve found, through testing during the summer, that Z8 even by itself applied to a fresh surface has 1-2 weeks of durability as a sealant. Since it`s as easy as QD to use/apply, I figure that my current solution of 6 coats of Z2Pro/ZFX over a freshly ZPCed finish, will provide plenty of durability when coupled with a shot of Z8 after washing.

    my plans...

    prep with Optimum

    finish with FMJ x 2-3

    maintain with OCW

GR-40 trim, unsure what to seal with...

303 weather seals around windows, trunk, and bonnet

put my beater wheels and tires back on

unsure yet on what to use on my Prodrive exhaust...

Here`s what I`m planning at the moment.

-Clay to clean off the current pile of products.

-Polish. Optimum on the Car, FPII on the Truck

    -FK #2180 x 2 on the truck.

    -UPP x 2, OCW x 1 on the car.

-#2180 for the jams on both.

-Clay & PB`s wheel sealer x 2 for the wheels & exhaust on both & the painted bumpers & side steps on the truck.

-AIO on the glass for both.

-PB`s leather cleaner/conditioner for the seals on both.

-FX-100 and #425 to maintain the truck

    -#OCW & S&G to maintain the car.

I`ll be using a bug squash as a pre-wash soak to lift the lovely winter grime before I marr up the finish with a wash mitt

It`s supposed to rain all weekend again in the NE, so I`ll probably get this underway in the garage for something to do.

My carnuba`s are going away for the winter, and will be back next spring.

I did my wheels today with a coat of Hyperturismo`s Wheel Wax. As far as the paint goes, I`m having bit of a Meguiar`s revival at the moment so I`m going to go:

    #80

    #82

    #7

    #21(x2)

I`ll either re-apply #21 when I feel the need, or switch to #16 as a durable winter topper. Rubber seals will get some #38 when I get round to getting some.

FujiFast: I forget the name but it an aerosol can that sprays rubber/plastic lining for your fender wells. I got it at Ace Hardware.

Next week is vacation time... I am going to put Collinite 845 on all three of mine as an LSP. OCP with a polishing pad after washing, claying, pulling the wheels, etc.

I finished up winterizing my 2005 black tacoma earlier this week. I know I talk up CG all the time, but Zaino remains my winter products of choice. I washed with Z7,clayed,washed again,Z6`d,Z5 w/ZFX x 3,Z2 Pro w/ZFX x 5 then topped with Z8. The "BlkTac05" looks deliciously lickable!!
