Am I correct in looking for ones that only have real/tanned leather on the inside? Anything else would not be considered a good mitt?

If it isn`t leather on the inside it`s not real sheepskin unless there are kinds that have some kind of lining inside.Anything less isn`t necessarily a bad mitt for sure, just too much uncertainity about the composition, quality, safety and durabilty of the materials.

Wal Mart and Target are popular local sources for the sheepskins. remember, pick on the softest of the bunch.... like fruit

viking & turtle wax both make good sheepskin mitts. as bill d stated... feel every one until you find the plushest/softest mitt in the bunch!

i have been looking at lambswool mitts but for price of 18 bucks i went to a lambswool wholesaler and bought a large lambswool seat cover for 35 bucks cut into a strips 30cm wide x 60 long i can get 5 out of the seat cover stuck some velcro in the middle so it will stay folded over. It works great to wash the car with and hold heaps of suds and when you are finished you can open out so you can wash it and let it dry it works for me.

    has any one tryed this???

I like a mitt that fits over my hand. $18 is far too much for a wash mitt. The Wal-Mart price for 5 mitts still beats $35

Yup, I got on lambwool from Walmart, its from a company called "Eurow" :nixweiss I look inside the mitt, it looks real deal.

Now, when I soak that mitt, I see it shed`s alot of wool coming off. Haha, I guess is fake I think.

Yes, the Eurows are the real deal. Shedding, just like a live animal, is normal. Degree of which varies from lot to lot.

I kind of like the Baja Sol sheepskin mitts from Target. I like them because they have no thumb to it.

I have had much better luck with the sheepskin mitts from Target. My Wal-Mart ones tend to wear out very quickly and shed unlike any other mitts I have had. In fact, just today I trashed my one remaining Wal-Mart mitt after about 8 washes because it developed holes and it shed like crazy. It was washed and dried (gentle cycle and delicate heat) after each use.

I think I am done with Sheepskin wash mits. I have tried over 5 already and each one gets holes in it after about 4 washes. The last one I tried, I babies it soo much and still no luck. After each wash I put it in the washer with cold water on delicate, then I would dry on low heat. Today was the third wash with it and during the wash it developed holes. I have previously tried just wringing them out and air drying them. Then I read about drying them for 10 minutes. I have purchased from pakshak, autogeek, and walmart. I have had no luck at all with any of them. I think I am going to try the microfiber wash mits. Anyone having the same problem as me.

Sorry for the venting, but I am just frustrated by this ongoing problem.

This is a very good case of Your Mileage May Vary. I`ve had very positive usability and durability with my Eurow mitts.

I picked up a three-pack of Sheepskin mits at Costco for around $12 last fall. One wore a hole in it but that was from me sticking the high-pressure wand at the local hand car wash inside it under high pressure. Whoops. The other two are still going strong.
