How about the myth that everyone jumps on "the hype train" whenever a new product comes out.

We don`t jump on...we`re already there diving after anything shiny and new. We need something new to mess with and talk about. No hype, just sharing dynamic reality vs. static reality.

It`s like this: You hear THE GREAT SONG...get the CD and play it over and over and over again, that night, and the next... you force all your friends to listen to it all week...finally you play the whole CD to see if something else is good on it.....then you listen to THE SONG only once a day for the rest of the month....you like it every time you hear it on the radio months down the road....your sitting around years later playing pool and drop a quarter in the machine because it`s still a great song, ......BUT YOUR NOT GOING HOME THAT NIGHT AND LISTEN TO IT FIFTY TIMES IN A ROW LIKE YOU DID WHEN IT WAS .....DYNAMIC REALITY. It`s static reality now.

i dont understand why there is such a bashing for these myths i thought all products were great that it was process that made the finish the way it ends up ?? is that a myth?

The procucts you use have VERY LITTLE to do with the end result.

You can go to town with 20th century technology products with the same technique and process as you do with the autopian quality products that I can`t stop buying, testing and praising and the end result won`t be as good

Example - friends 1960`s era XM falcon coupe, polar white

He spent hours night after night for many days with some very dated products and that includes certain meg`s ones and was reasonably happy with the end result

I come down on the w/e and decontaminate, use 3M PIt III RC with a black 3M waffle polishing pad, then Poorboys SSR 2, 1, dinitrol solvent/voc free polish, sonus sfx 3 and VM with Edge 2000 green and blue pads and within a few hours made the original paint look ten times better. Great wetness and looked a million bucks
Car care/detailing sadly isn`t high on the agenda for 98% of australians.

Which, I assume, is why you ended up buying the polisher(s) to start using.

Everything comes back to another quote, "Prep 90% Product 5% Other 5%. The procucts you use have VERY LITTLE to do with the end result. If people would focus the amount of energy on their prep as they do on looking for these super products I am confident they will have nicer looking finishes.

I would agree with that to a certain extent. Proper prep and technique will blow away any product out there. I could top a perfect buff job with turtle wax and blow away Zaino, P21s or whatever the latest miracle product is. The problem is that the majority of people on these forums don`t care about process and procedure and are only interested in the end result.

unfortunately when I use someones elses logic to point out that persons lack of logic they just go on the attack-IMO a lot of wax junkies are just like golf junkies-spend hundreds of dollars on the latest stuff and still end of with the same score

    Yo VIP let`s kick it

    Ice ice baby

All right stop collaborate and listen

Ice is back with my brand new invention

Something grabs a hold of me tightly

Flow like a harpoon daily and nightly

Will it ever stop yo I don`t know

Turn off the lights and I`ll glow

To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal

Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle

Dance go rush to the speaker that booms

I`m killing your brain like a poisonous mushroom

Deadly when I play a dope melody

Anything less than the best is a felony

Love it or leave it you better gain weight

You better hit bull`s eye the kid don`t play

If there was a problem yo I`ll solve it

Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it

    CHORUS

    Ice ice baby vanillla

Now that the party is jumping

With the bass kicked in and the vegas are pumpin`

Quick to the point to the point no faking

I`m cooking MC`s like a pound of bacon

Burning them if you ain`t quick and nimble

I go crazy when I hear a cymbal

And a hi-hat with a souped up tempo

I`m on a roll and it`s time to go solo

    Rollin` in my 5.0

With my rag-top down so my hair can blow

The girlies on standby waving just to say hi

Did you stop no I just drove by

Kept on pursuing to the next stop

I busted a left and I`m heading to the next block

    The block was dead

Yo so I continued to A1A Beachfront Avenue

Girls were hot wearing less than bikinis

    Rockman lovers driving Lamborghinis

Jealous `cause I`m out getting mine

Shay with a guage and Vanilla with a nine

Reading for the chumps on the wall

The chumps acting ill because they`re so full of eight balls

Gunshots rang out like a bell

I grabbed my nine all I heard were shells

Falling on the concrete real fast

Jumped in my car slammed on the gas

Bumpet to bumper the avenue`s packed

I`m trying to get away before the jackers jack

Police on the scene you know what I mean

They passed me up confronted all the dope fiends

If there was a problem yo I`ll solve it

Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it

    REPEAT CHORUS

    Take heed `cause I`m a lyrical poet

Miami`s on the scene just in case you didn`t know it

My town that created all the bass sound

Enough to shake and kick holes in the ground

    `Cause my style`s like a chemical spill

Feasible rhymes that you can vision and feel

    Conducted and formed

This is a hell of a concept

We make it hype and you want to step with this

Shay plays on the fade slice like a ninja

Cut like a razor blade so fast other DJs say damn

If my rhyme was a drug I`d sell it by the gram

Keep my composure when it`s time to get loose

Magnetized by the mic while I kick my juice

If there was a problem yo I`ll solve it

Check out the hook while Shay revolves it

    Ice ice baby vanilla

    Ice ice baby (oh-oh) vanilla

    Ice ice baby vanilla

    Ice ice baby vanilla ice

Yo man let`s get out of here

    Word to your mother

    Ice ice baby too cold

Ice ice baby too cold too cold

    Ice ice baby

I totally agree this is a myth. As my process has improved over the years, better products become very, very important. I just can`t get the best results on black without Souveran or lighter colors without Souveran or P21S.

I also find that better car soaps, clays, and vacuums make a big difference on my end results. Also, my new Makita rotary is allowing me to do better work as are Lake Country pads.

In my mind, process may be roughly 60% and products/gear 40%.

Detailing is a blend of art (process) and science (product).

Now a days most of the otc is pretty good, it isent like it was years ago when there was a lot of crap sold. It may not last too long but not to much out their last very long except Zaino and Klasse. Even if it would last after a few washes you would get a lot of micro scratches that would make the paint look dull. The protection may last a long time but the look wont. I myself use a lot of spray waxes and QD, my car always looks freshly waxed.

Let`s look at the empirical evidence from Guru Reports:

    (Durability scores from Wax Test)

    Megs#16 C+

    Collinite 476 B+

    Collinite Marque D`Elegance B+

    Blitz One Grand C+

    P21S B-

    Souveran C

Looks like they did well in this test versus others. [/B]

P21S beating #16 in durability... that is a new one. While the guru reports were very informative, they contain quite a few mistakes. Most of the regular users of BOTH P21S and #16 will tell you that they are not close in durability. Myself (not a regular user of either) the few times I used them #16 has lasted quite longer.......

Collinite 476S durability almost the same than P21S? Steve L smoked something in this one. The 476S puts the majority of sealants to shame in regards to durability, and goes head on with the toughest sealants (the Z, KSG).

Burlyq, collinite will not last longer than paint, but it will outlast the majority of products you can think of. You say it doesn`t last, well, good for you. I don`t know how you assess it, but not strange coming from one of the most vocal "prophets of the z truth...." If I said Z doesn`t last I would have the zealots jump immediately asking about my application. In this case we`ll leave it that way, a product that didn`t work for a specific user.....

I totally agree with this post. Collinite has some gnarly smelling solvents/VOCs in it. I`m not a chemist, but I wouldn`t be at all surprised if rubbing it on your SG wouldn`t remove some SG.
