I have found this little helper on an Austrian detailing site. I think it is pretty useful, because it is soft, won`t scratch anything, and makes the sides/wheels/roofs more accessible.

You have to attach it to the exhaust pipe, and the engine (or a compressor) inflates it. It has a 3-ton load rating and a blow-off valve to prevent overinflation.

And even two can be used, just to be on the safe side; when detailing wheelwells, and the wheels are removed.

For limited emergency use hooking-up something like that to the exhaust pipe may be ok, but I would be concerned that repeated regular use may burn an exhaust valve.

I`ve seen those used by first responders. Obviously, I don`t think I`d need something that high. Also, I probably couldn`t justify the costs associated with something like that as I`d definitely want a compressor also to save the exhaust system.

Seems to me a bit dangerous also. Why not just buy one of those 12V jacks? Just plug it into a cigarette lighter or 12V supply and puch a button.

Agreed...looks dangerous...don`t think any car was intended to be tilted that much for an extended period of time.

Like Holland_Patrick said, we use these in the fire service for vehicle stabilization and extracation. Ours are bladder bags and are industrial grade. I`m sure the consumer models would have strict safety standards. However, ALWAYS use secondary devices such as jack stands.
