So what happens to the beautiful paint after the salt and dirt sit on the car for weeks and weeks without ever getting washed?

    BEFORE WASH

    Apparently nothing!

Underneath all that dirt and salt was AIO and UPPx1, applied in November and wasn`t washed since. The paint seems to be free of any obvious effect of the road salt and dirt.

The paint is not very slick anymore though.

So Maxy, are you saying that the UPP is at the end of its life? How many weeks?

It could be at the end of its life. It wasn`t beading much anymore, and wasn`t very slick either. So I guess it depends whether you believe that no slickness + no beading = no UPP :nixweiss

I just checked my record book, and the Concorde got AIO+UPP on November 27th. So that was approximately 9 weeks ago. I think it would last longer without having the corrosive road salt covering it for a straight 9 weeks.

Interesting. I did AIO + SGx3 on my BMW and it has not been washed for since the BLIZZARD of `05. My before pic would look 10x worse than yours. Bright white salt and sand. It is such a mess, but if I can not wash it by hand, I will not wash it at all. The BMW dealer washed it once this winter and of course swirled the heck out of it.

Believe it. It was NEVER washed since I applied the AIO/UPP.

It is driven 2-3 times per week.

I noticed NXT being a bit harsh for regular washes. It took away slickness a little to quick for my taste.

If you had PB SS&S I would say that wouldve allowed a bit better slickness.

It seems to work fine for my car with UPP. :nixweiss

I found the Deep Crystal wash to take away slickness quite fast, but I haven`t tried the D.C. wash with UPP yet.

Wow! Still looks really good! Sucks about all that snow still on the ground though.

Yeah all the roads are constantly wet from all the melting snow. I have to really be on guard with my puddle-dodging skills.

Sean have you tried Optimum`s Car Wash? If so, did that take away slickness quicker than other soaps?

looks awesome, similar in what i found with my winter setup, AIOx1, SGx3, 1.5 months covered with salt/dirt did nothing to the SG, it did kill off my #16 though.
