It`s official, per Mike Phillips, the EPA VOC requirements has caused Meguiar`s to drop these products. When inventory is gone it`s gone.

Darn, I really liked #16. I stocked up and if you like this product get it quick.

I`m suprised they don`t reformulate #16 given its popularity. I did not like the look or application but the durability was excellent.

In the title I typed #01 and that should have been #02. As far as I know #01 is not being cancelled. Sorry for the typo.

It`s sad, the world`s largest car care company is going to be without the most basic product.

I`m not all that surprised, as it seems like meguiars is moving away from professional and towards consume products.

I like #16 but when I use the last of it up that`s it. I`ll just find something else. It isn`t that great to stock up on. And I like being able to try new products that I can recommend to people.

here`s a question: How does mother`s pure paste wax compare? I know it is more expensive, but is durability comparable?

Such is life I guess. I`ve used #16 and the entire Medallion line. MPPC is a SUPER chemical cleaner...but can be replaced with AIO. MPPP is a pretty unique polymer among the Meg`s products. It has a nice look but I had some trouble with removal...no big loss. The leather cleaner/conditioner is an average 1-step product...nothing spectacular. #16...damn that one I will miss...glad I "squirreled" away a few tins when rumors of its demise first surfaced this summer. A suitable replacement IMHO...Blitz Wax. Not quite the bright, glossy look of #16 but same rock hard durability.

You know what is funny....it is that our Canadian friends have known about the demise of #16 for quite sometime while us folks here in the States were in denial (at least I was). I remember reading more than one thread where Canadian Autopians said their distributors were saying #16 was going the way of the dinosaur.

I don`t mind losing #16; the best thing about it was the price/value equation, but there are plenty of great sealants and waxes to step right in. The one I`ll really miss is the MPPC. That`s a great heavy duty, non-abrasive and non-marring paint cleaner.

EPA VOC requirements , not moving away on their own. Forced too.

That kinda sucks. They may not be able to ever make a product like these again. Im not too worried about #16 but I would have like to tried mppc. But better not get into that one now, im sure I might like it too much and dont want to depress myself.

I know what is on my shopping list when I hit up my Meguiars distributor...in fact, I`m calling him in the morning to hold me 4-5 cans. AIO+16 is a great combo.

I feel like a month ago I met a great new friend and we bonded. We found out that both of us work well with AIO. And then the government shot and killed my new friend.

I think we should put the Autopia palm trees at half mast.

Now to convince the wife I need more products.

I posted a rant on this over on MOL, but the more I think about this, how can these professional products, which have to be sold in (relatively) small numbers, really have an effect on anything, in the big scheme of things?

How many people have a can of #16 in comparison to things like, say, a car (with a big tank of VOC`s riding along with it)? Or charcoal lighter fluid, or cologne, or a hundred other things that people have in their houses that is more common and used more often than #16 or MPPC.

I suppose it`s possible the EPA has cleaned up the air so well that these minute sources now appear on the radar screen, but it seems more likely to me that they have their head up their VOC exhausts.
