#16 in the heat, how well does it hold up?

It`s getting to the point of the year where 95 degree days are going to be the norm here in So Cal, and was wondering if anyone has any experience as to wether or not #16 can last in really hot weather? I`m looking for at least 2 months between waxing applications, am I asking too much from #16?

I don`t think you`re asking too much. While much is made of the melting point of "natural" waxes, many pros here have used #16 on black vehicles that are exposed to high temps (SW area of USA) and they say it holds up just fine. Ohio doesn`t get all that hot, but I`ve never had a problem with it, even on vehicles that are outside 24/7.

Seems to be holding up so far but it hasn`t been real hot yet, mostly upper 80`s.

I did a test last summer in 104 degree heat with about a half dozen waxes including #16 and I don not remember seeing any negative effects. This was on red single stage paint, (My 1973 Blazer).

One other thing, the melting point of a wax is not dependent upon a single ingredient, but the blend of all ingredients.

Unlike a lot of wax companies, Meguiar`s doesn`t make a wax, or paint protectant based upon a single ingredient. All Meguiar`s waxes are blended waxes. That is they are blended with other ingredients to provide the benefits and features of more than just one ingredients.

Which is why the `140 carnauba melting point` some who prefer a certain product mention all the time is worthless. Just like water has a boiling point of 212 degrees, but add coolant and the boiling point is raised.
