I`m interested in trying this product to clear up an odor from my car`s AC/heater.

I don`t want an overpowering scent left behind by the cleaner either.

Does Klima leave a scent, and how does it neutralize HVAC odors?

    Thanks for any info.

    Aaron, thanks for your question.

Klima Cleaner is the same product that dealerships use to clean the evaporator that is part of your HVAC system. When condensation builds on the evaporator, eventually odor causing mold, fungi, and bacteria grow.

When Klima is dispensed it foams covering the effected area and breaking down the mold, etc.

Klima leaves a citrus scent behind but it does not last for more than 12 hours. What does last for the next few months is clean air. The best way to maintain the fresh air is by leaving your HVAC system in fresh mode is often as possible. This allows for fresh air to always circulate throughout the system preventing moisture from collecting.

Another bonus that comes with cleaning the HVAC system is the reduction in airborne bacteria, mold, etc. This is especially helpful for those with allergies. We have lab test results from German labratory Thor if anyone needs confirmation of the effectiveness of the product.

Personally, this is one of my favorite products. :xyxthumbs

I should also mention that you are looking between 2 and 3 applications per can. It varies depending on how close to the evaporator you can get. Obviously, if you have the know-how to open your dash and spray the evaporator directly, you can get many apps out of it.

The way I do it (the consumer friendly way) is to stick the application tube through the center vents and spray until about 1/3 or 1/2 the can is empty. After 30 minutes you can see liquid dripping out of the drain hole underneath the car.

Many dealerships offer this service and charge up to $150. The cost comes from opening the dash and treating the evaporator directly. But in all honesty, it`s hard to say if all actually open the dash or just spray it through the center vents.

Another method of application is applying it through the fresh air intake vents on the outside of the vehicle below the windshield. You may have to remove air filters before doing so. The key is to get the foam on the evaporator.

Just to second what Mike said, I treated my Audi near the end of the fall and the scent was gone in about 12 hours.

I sprayed it into the vents then pulled the pollen filter and sprayed it directly down the hole. I was amazed at how well it cleaned up the stank.

if i understand correctly when you spray klima cleaner into the vents, it foams up?? does it evaporate eventually?

yes, it foams up. On the end of the plastic tube that comes with it is a special brass tip that shoots the liquid as foam out in four directions (to the "sides"). The product doesn`t evaporate.... it`s like Dow "Scrubbing Bubbles".. It scrubs taking the mold/mildew off and it drips out of the drainage pipe that goes to the bottom of your car.
