Mike- On another thread, you mentioned that the Metallic Polish contains both carnauba and polymer "waxes". Are there any such "protective" ingredients in the Paint Polish? I`ve always followed PP with MP, but I`m still curious about this.

i`ve found the PP to give you some protection, but not much. it really needs to be followed with either express polish, metallic polish or glanz wax for the protection to last. by itself i`ve found the paint polish to bead for only about 30 days. i mainly use it as a pure polish - it gives me that wet look before finishing off with one of the others i mentioned above or something else if you`d prefer.

Yeah, I`d never leave it untopped, I`m just curious as to what type of protection is in it (if any). Sometimes just the combo of a slick surface and polishing oils can give a sort of short-term protection, but I was wondering if it contains a carnauba or a synthetic or something like that. Purely a matter of idle curiosity...

All of our Shop line polishes contain some degree of white carnauba. The most to contain it (in the Shop series) is Metallic Polish/Wax which is why we emphasize "Wax".

In the Pro-Line series, Express Polish contains more carnauba than Metallic. Then Waxpolish Soft has more carnauba than Express.

We don`t mention the content of carnauba simply because the N. American market immediately thinks "One Step".

So, secrets revealed (*almost*)... That`s the `protection` you are getting :up

Thanks Mike, your secrets are safe with us

You`re right about the "one step"/"cleaner wax" stigma!

    Mike,

I noticed the express polish isn`t listed in the shop line. Is this polish discontinued? I would really like to try it out. Thanks.

Yes, Express Polish was disconotinued in the Shop Line. Express Polish and Metallic Polish were combined to form Metallic Polish and Wax. This was designed to slim the Shop Line down and make it easier for consumers to make a selection. Metallic Polish and Wax contains more carnauba than Express did and has polymers in it for added gloss.

The Metallic Polish in the Pro Line is not the same as the Metallic Polish and Wax. That MP is the old formula. So far EP in the Pro Line is staying because many detailers like using it.

Icic...I`ve seen the red polish at autobacs here in stanton and it just said metallic polish on it (not polish/wax). It was with the ultra and pp so now I`m wondering if it is the old formula perhaps? Sorry for all the questions mike.

Actually, that`s a good question. It`s actually the new formula. It`s just the old label. It takes a while to make the transition with the labels for the U.S. You probably noticed that the Glanz Wax had a metallic label... that`s the way all the new polish labels will look.
