    Clay Patents

Well, we haven`t had a discussion about this for a while.

I noticed that Optimum doesn`t have the Opti-Clay in the store anymore. I posted on the Optimum forum and there was something said about clay patents. I remember at the time the "Erazer" clays came back on the market here I thought one of the Clay-Magic patents was still in effect--did they ultimately clamp down on that one and get the elastic clays pulled from the US market again? Although I am pretty sure that second patent is expired by now. I searched and didn`t find anything here--maybe there is a thread over at AGO. I know I`ve researched those patents a couple of times, but I couldn`t find where I posted anything about it here, maybe I didn`t go back far enough.

Not really sure but since I started buying Clay-magic it`s all I reach for besides the occasional clay pad/towel.

Seems most generic clay is junk. At least to ones I`ve tried.

Meguiar`s blue and red clay was good the last time I used it though.

    Re: Clay Patents

I found my more definitive thread on the topic, seems all the patents are expired: https://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...y-patents.html

It may be that Optimum simply dropped the clay (ha ha) since it was a slow mover, they have done that with a number of items in their line in the last year or two.

EDIT: This was the court ruling from eons ago: https://casetext.com/case/kucala-ent...to-wax-company

The rag company took ownership of the optimum clay towel.

I`m talking about the yellow Opti-Clay, not the clay towel.

Their yellow clay was not that good anyway. Was too sticky.

LOL, the whole time the patent was being enforced, people wanted that sticky Erazer clay, and now it`s too sticky. Before your time, I guess.

Optimum Forum response: "Optimum can`t find a supplier to provide the quality we demand, so have discontinued bars for now."

Neat bit of info about the clay Sect.

I one time made the mistake of buying cheap bars online they were blue with clear plastic wrap with 3M print and were Chinese junk got ripped off

also bought knockoff aquapel online and it was completely fake and got ripped off.
