Off-label use for Hybrid Solutions Wet Wax

So I bought the HS Wet Wax yesterday. I used it as a drying aid and it really accentuated my need for better, more absorbent microfibers. Seemed to work well enough though - no water spotting or streaking.

So this morning, I figured I`d try a slightly off-label use ... on a dry car as a QD.

The car was a bit dusty after sitting overnight in the garage, so I took the Wet Wax and LIGHTLY misted it on the trunk lid as a test spot. I rubbed it in with one microfiber, waited a few minutes while it started to flash, then buffed it off with another clean microfiber cloth. WOW, SLICK!!! No streaking or clouding, just some slight smears only visible from certain angles in direct sunlight, which probably only be noticed by MAYBE 5% of the people looking at it. If they`re NOT an OCD type detailer, they will never even notice.

And did I mention slick? It feels like the 2nd coat of the HS Spray Coating. I went ahead and did my door jambs with it and noticed the same effects and they have not been prepped or coated with anything.

So far, this off label use seems to work very well.

Re: Off-label use for Hybrid Solutions Wet Wax

I just went out to the car again (8+ hours after application) and checked the finish by wiping it with a clean microfiber cloth. It seems even slicker now than it did right after applying the Wet Wax like a sealant and not a drying aid. Applied this way, it must have a curing period, getting slicker as time passes.

Just for giggles, I think I`ll apply another coat the same way tomorrow morning.

Here it is after the 2nd coat of Wet Wax as a sealant, with a 12 hour cure time.

Sorry no "direct sun" pics, but the sun isn`t up yet

And yes, I know my garage needs cleaned out.

I`m not sure what is in TW Hybrid products, some companies put ingredients on the label and some don`t. Some products that contain dimethicones would probably work as a waterless wash because of the slickness.

Using this product (or similar wet use products dry) is a good idea if you can. It will boost their effectiveness and durability as they will not be diluted. I know that Megs Hybrid Ceramic Wax behaves much better when initially applied dry and allowed to cure. Good work!
