TW Hybrid Solutions LOVES the heat!

Yesterday was the 2nd time I used the HS Ceramic Polish & Wax. The 1st time I used it, it was ~ 50* - 60* and I had some difficulty removing it. Well it`s been roughly a month since I got the Camaro back from the body shop and the finish was all swirled up, so it definitely needed some TLC.

It was 88* and mostly sunny, but I soldiered ahead and gave the car a good polishing with the Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Polish & Wax using a maroon Meguiar`s cutting pad on my PC (believe it or not, the cutting pad not only cuts well, but leaves a great final finish - at least with the HS Products).

It was so hot, that at times I could see steam rising from the areas I was polishing, but in spite of that, the product was workable as long as I cared to work it. I had divided the hood and roof into 4 sections and the doors, fenders and quarters into 2 sections to keep my working area small (about 4 passes per section). Removal was EASY! With only a few area having some VERY minor smearing/cloudiness. A 2nd buff with a clean MF eliminated those quickly.

For a 7+ year old car with 120K on it, it looks amazing, not perfect, there are some water spots, bird etchings and deeper scratches that didn`t come out, but again, this is a 7 year old car with 120,000 miles that is daily driven.

Would I recommend this product? ABSOLUTELY!! Like I mentioned, I`ve polished my car twice with it now and I`ve probably used no more than 2 to at the MOST 3 ounces of product. This bottle is going to last me a LONG time.

No current pics YET, I`m waiting until I apply the HS Ceramic Spray Wax. Admittedly, I`m not going to wait the full 24 hours, more like 16 - but I wanted to wait until it was done before showing off the results.

Here is a pic from the 1st time I used the product and believe it or not, it actually looks BETTER with just the polish applied than it did with both products applied the first time.

    Don:
How does a vehicle come back from a body shop "all swirled up"? I suppose it`s just one of those things that they, body shop personnel, just do not have the time to do an Obsessive-Compulsive Detail (OCD) Autopian-level job "perfecting" something reimbursed by car accident insurance payment/settlement.

Some questions about Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Polish & Wax (HS-P&W):
    1) Is this product considered a One-Step Product or is it more of a Last-Step Product?
    2) How well does it get rid of minor swirling and cloudiness so prevalent in black paints?
    3) Is the Spray Wax a gloss enhancer or more of a protection-extender after using this HS-P&W or just a after-wash maintenance product?
I ask because you mentioned the gloss seemed better with just the P&W the first time you used the Spray Wax.

I bought this product because it was on sale at a local farm supply store, but I have yet to try it. And I have a black 2006 Ford FreeStyle, so yes, I have a vested interest in this product line. Turtle Wax products were (past tense and long ago) a staple of the "general public" car-care enthusiast, but the end-results were just OK; Nothing stellar or concourse car show worthy. This newer offering seems to be is more about cost-effective protection and ease of use. I do like the cost-part, BUT the end-result appearance (AKA gloss or shine) is also, if not more, important to me personally.

Your observed application performance characteristics of this product in the heat is good news for most car-care enthusiast. I am still looking for car-care products that perform well in cooler weather in early spring and late fall (much cooler in Northeastern Wisconsin, anyway), but most enthusiast do not perform their detailing activities at those times. Ah, such are the care-car activities of an OCD Autopian hobbyist!

    1) It can be used as a one-step, but most will recommend using it as a "base layer" for the Ceramic Spray Coating.

    2) Awesome. I use a Meguiar`s foam cutting pad, and Brian from APEX DETAILING uses a Uro-fiber 50/50 pad. Both are (relatively) aggressive, but finish up perfectly. It won`t get rid of heavier scratches etc, but then it wasn`t meant to.

    3) The Spray Coating (wax) is pure protection and you should use a polish (HS-P&W) to prep the paint first, otherwise you won`t see the full benefit of the Spray Wax`s durability/gloss/depth.

I did mention that this time, just using the P&W, I got better results than with both products last time. I believe that it`s because this time I had experience with the product, and for some reason, either in spite of - or because of the heat, I had a better experience with it. It was textbook - easy on, it would work forever without flashing or drying out on you and easy removal, with outstanding results.
