Speed 5 is 6000 rpm. You don`t need that much anyways

I just tried the 1" and 2" extensions that I got with my Proxxon micro rotary and the threads match. I can use the backing plates that came with it also.
Off hand do you know the thread size on the proxxon micro extensions?

FYI....I am noticing that the red LED lights up sometimes. I wonder if it can tell its in rotary mode based on the drag. The DA offset adaptors probably present a much higher load. So maybe there is supposed to be a governor on the unit and maybe my unit is not working right.

When I use it in rotary mode at speed 5 (6000 rpm) the polish absolutely slings everywhere. My PE8 only goes up to around 3800-4000 from what I remember which is crazy fast.

I was using my Diavolo 12V today and it was cutting out very quickly...pissing me off to no end!!!! I realized the red light flashing meant it was out of battery power. I plugged in a fresh battery and it was better but still stalling with little pressure.....
I`m gonna look at the Griots G8 3" at Barrett Jackson in January and try it out in their booth on a hood for stalling. I don`t want a cord but.....

You’ll like the g8 as a DA.... you’ll still get it to stall due to it not being forced rotation. I’ve decided to bite the bullet and get the pixie but would buy the g8 in a second if it would do a 1” also.

I received my G8 a week ago. It`s a nice polisher with the 3" and 2" plate. Smooth. Forget about a 1" pad with this machine, even if it was available. Too heavy/big.

Ah, thanks for that (unfortunate) bit of info, exactly what I was wondering.

Yeah and that shroud would definitely get in the way. Beast of a 3 inch though

    Re: Adam`s Micro SK polisher

    Merry Christmas to me!
Autopia`s store has 15% off on" almost" everything for another 3 hours...Flex included. So after thinking the G8 3" would be the trick and I`d try one and order mid January at Barrett-Jackson with a 10% show discount...... I came to my senses and realized it has a ...cord!

I want something I can use "away from cords". I watched a few Flex PXE videos, closed my eyes to the price and hit the send button. I believe I did the same years ago when the Flex 3401 was introduced and I`ve never regretted that purchase.

New Years is next week.... oh lord help my urges!

If any one is curious the backing plate thread size for the swirl killer micro is M6x1.0 I was able to order some generic 1 inch backing plates off the internet and they fit well.

    Re: Adam`s Micro SK polisher

I just took mine out of the package and tried it out--not on paint, but just adjustments. With the 12mm attachment, it rattles/seems to make contact with the plastic safety surround. Is this normal/acceptable, and will it transfer stress into the buffing process?

See if the shroud slipped down any. Mine will move a little.

    Re: Adam`s Micro SK polisher

It didn`t slip out of place, the notches were still in tact. It seems like it was made to have a slightly loose tolerance since we`re able to pull it off/snap it back in. Is it a problem enough to take the protective shroud off when using and just be extra careful, or is the vibration/contact not something that would affect the correction work?
