Anyone familiar with Big Boi car blowers? I noticed that even on for a few minutes the unit got extremely hot? Is this normal? How about the Metro blowers - do they get hot when in use?

My metro gets very warm, that is what heats the air, so I would assume it’s normal. I’ll look at one when they are available elsewhere.
My 8 HP metro Vac gets warm not hot.

Thanks guys. I was concerned because the Big Boi Mini got quite hot to the touch. I did check with the retailer and said it`s normal for this blower.

Anytime an electric motor is in a small enclosed space, there will be a lot more heat than if its in a larger space..
I would personally, want more ventilation in that space so that the electric motor will be happier and last longer..
There is no small blower that can come close to the Metro Vac`s 2 - 4-hp motors = 8-hp power, and you can switch 1 motor or both on.
I just put my Metro Master Blaster on the top of a detailing cart so the hose people seem to complain about, is high off the ground, and the whole thing just rolls along the vehicle sides, front, back, with no issue..
And I can dry my big Black Grand Cherokee really fast including the wheels and tires, before anything has a chance to spot it..
Good luck with your research..

Hi Dan,
I currently have the small hand held unit from GG and it works well but takes a bit more time than I`d like. I had 2 concerns - loudness and money. Previously I used a leaf blower and out of concern and consideration for my neighbor that`s way too loud and obnoxious. I wanted to keep costs down as the largest Big Boi - similar to the Metro Master B, was more than I needed/wanted to spend for my needs so that`s why I bought the middle size model.
I always wonder about the amp draw of those twin-motor units, whether the average user will be tripping breakers all the time.
Are people aiming to dry the vehicle with these by displacing the water (i.e., blowing it off the vehicle) or evaporating it? By the sound of it when discussing the "heat issue" I`m thinking maybe....both.
That`s a very good tip!
