    All Purpose Coating

    Hello everyone,

I am going to take the coating plunge this spring after much reading on here. Will correct and coat my truck and wife`s SUV.

One question I have after reading about the many coatings on the market is, is there a user friendly coating out there that can be applied to all surfaces, (Paint, Trim, Glass, Headlights, Chrome, Wheels)? Really not interested in buying a top dollar coating product for each separate surface, would rather buy 1 product that can be applied to all surfaces at the same time. Are there any coatings out there that can be applied to all parts of the vehicle?

    Thank you for your time
    Sean

Robert, thanks a lot for the reply. Will look into those. Blackfire looks interesting in spray form.

I used the Pinnacle on my glass, worked very well. I unfortunately didn`t use on paint, just because I had something else on the car. I should of tested it on a friends car or something.

I have some left (been sitting a while tho..) may try it on friends hood to see how it holds up.

FWIW, I recently noticed that Gtechniq sells many of their coatings in 15ml bottles as opposed to 30ml which may be more economical in the long run if just doing one vehicle.

Some of the reviewers say that the new Mothers CMX can be used on everything. I`m going to try it.

Technically any coating can be used on multiple surfaces. The downside to some is that they don’t excel in every surface.

Let’s take Optimum Gloss Coat as an example. It can be used on multiple surfaces (paint, glass, trim, wheels, etc).

It works on trim but the trim has to be new or in good shape. It does not offer the restorative/darkening effect that some trim coatings offer.

The same goes for it on the front glass. Optimum does. It recommend it as it does not handle wiper abrasion as well as their dedicated glass coating.

On wheels a typical paint coating can be used and perform just as well as a wheel coating.

For headlights as long as they are in good shape a paint coating will bond to the existing coating on them.

If you are looking to take the plunge into coatings then buy them during a sale.

If I had to recommend coatings available and sold through Autopia the. It would be these

Paint: Cquartz UK 3.0. It can also be used on wheels.

Wheels: You can either get the larger bottle of CQUK 3.0 or you can invest in DLUX which can be used on wheels and on trim.

Trim: DLUX as mentioned above it can serve a dual purpose. GTechniq C4 is pretty good and as mentioned available in a smaller size.

Glass: McKee’s 37 is decent. It’s affordable and is easy to use for the amount given.

It does, works well on trim and glass. Including my front windshield.

Just lost its tight beading after 30 days.

    Re: All Purpose Coating

I applied Wolfgang to my truck a year ago.

The glass is still in good shape, but the windshield isn`t holding up as well as the other locations. I did read that the windshield coating is only expected to last about a year. I can likely get another year out of it.

I actually came here to search on how to remove from glass so I can re-apply (I tend to plan well ahead).

The best way to remove a coating from glass is with a 3 inch microfiber pad and a compound such as Menzerma 400.
