It looks like the OPT Clear Coat Restorer that was announced at SEMA is about to be released--I think this may be a game-changer for many situations.

Looks pretty cool though. Had that exact same car for a winter beater for 10 years; quirky little thing. Mine had no A/C, no radio, hand crank windows. Could remove the whole (plastic) door skin by removing 6 screws, quit convenient.

Kamikaze has had `Artificial Clear Coat` for a while but could never really figure out what it was for...

Primer For Soft Paints & Delicate Clear Coat Finishes.

Refining soft paintwork and clear coat finishes can be tricky as well as time-consuming. Some clear coats are so soft, applying a ceramic sealant puts blemishes back into the finish. So how can these soft finishes be protected from scratching in the future?
Kamikaze Collection has formulated Artificial Clear Coat to remedy the problem. Acting as a primer, Artificial Clear Coat hides imperfections in the surface of the vehicle and adds a durable layer of protection. This can then be finished with a ceramic sealant to give a long lasting, durable finish with increased swirl resistance and a highly reflective gloss.
Features & Benefits:

• Hides imperfections which may be difficult to remove
• Adds a 3-5 microns of tough, swirl resistant layer
• Ideal for soft, delicate paint finishes
• Can be used to spot conceal problem areas
• Does not contain abrasives

Directions for use:

• Spray a liberal amount of Artificial Clear Coat directly onto the surface of the vehicle
• Use the specially designed Kamikaze Collection Artificial Clear Coat (ACC) Buff Pad
• Use a smaller throw DA polisher, such as the RUPES Duetto
• Apply using a slower speed to keep heat generation to a minimum
• Buff until the product disappears & a shiny surface appears
• Do not use IPA or Panel Wipe type of product afterwards
• Protect finish using a solvent-free ceramic sealant such as Kamikaze Collection`s MIYABE or ISM Coat

Technical Specification:

• Does not contain Volatile Organic Compound (VOC)
• Does not contain solvents
• pH tolerance: 4-9pH
• Thickness layer: 3- 5 microns
• Additional hardness: 3-4H (pencil hardness scale)
• Coverage: 100mls = 6-9 cars

N.B. This product is designed to be used specifically with the Kamikaze Collection ACC Buff Pad - using alternative pads will not give the same effect.

I actually really look forward to the release of this product and solid reviews.

I have so many questions regarding it. The first of which, can CCR be applied to isolated areas like RIDS, left to cure for 48 hours and then polished to flatten the area, leaving a filled in scratch....? We shall wait and see.

Okay, so CCR itself can be polished and it can be spot applied to RIDS, left to cure, and polished out to a flat surface.

I had a few more questions that I am hoping Yvan will answer:

2. Would a slow machine speed compound be a better surface prep over a high machine speed?
3. Will the application towels be available separately through TRC?
4. Can CCR be layered, with respect to the 48hr cure time?
5. Would it be considered to sell CCR in a smaller portion for spot (RIDS) restoration, as well?

I dunno but if they play the authorized dealers only game, they can keep it. Still have a very sour taste in my mouth after the Opticoat to Glosscoat game.

1. Same pH tolerance as automotive clear coat
2. low speed, no pressure, only 1 pass, your not correcting the paint, your micro abrading it.
3. I hope so, that’s who Optimum buys them from.

I then asked: 4. Everytime CCR is layered, does the pre-existing CCR layer need to be abraded in order for the product to *grab*, like the initial application?
