Does anyone know how long Can Coat will last in the can before it goes bad?
Opened or unopened?
I`m interested in both..I have a bottle that is unopened and it`s been on my shelf about a year or more.

Aerosol a very long time.
The other I don’t know but I’m interested Bc I have 2
I had 2 bottles of it sit around for more than 6 months before I used one of them on 3 different cars a couple weeks apart. Other than the top being a pain to open because it hardened and crystallized, I didn`t notice anything wrong with it at all. After that the 2nd bottle was opened to apply and has been sitting for the last month.
I think the top hardening keeps it completely sealed and somewhat fresh so I`d estimate a another several months after being opened at least until it begins to deteriorate, if not longer.

My bottle was first opened 2 years ago and I’ve run a handful of tests with it throughout this time including last week. It’s held up really well, I agree with RZ that it hardens slightly against the initial seal on the original cap and this must help keep it fresh. Remove the sprayer top after use, I actually need to find a solvent to test that will help clean this up after use so it doesn’t clog.

After use I put the spray cap in the sink and spray suck water through it for a bit, cleans it all out.
My opened bottle is a year old and the contents are still good. I used it on the door jambs a couple weeks ago and it still performs great. I have not had any issues with the sprayer. I run it trough hot water and pump it many times. I am still on the original sprayer.

Good to know. It sounds like it will last a very long time even after opening. I’m tired of buying small bottles of coatings that dry up quickly.
I`m at 8 months open. No problems
Used last week.

20 months on my non-aerosol bottle. I agree with the others. The cap seems to seal itself after each use.
