The only thought I have is that this particular coating has held up pretty well on the paint of my daily driver. You could give it a try and see how it holds up on the wheels. Sonax claims it is a 1 year coating but with Sonax BSD or Polymer Net Shield it can extend the life of the coating.

Good to hear. I’ve actually never spoken to anyone that has used the sonax ceramic coating.
What else can I expect? I heard it is easy to use.
So I’m thinking. Since the wheels are clear coated. Perhaps polish them first. Or do you guys recommend going over them with a clay mitt ? Then polish. Ceramic coat. Sonax polymer netshield ?

it is really easy to use. It`s a two part coating. There is a recommended wait time of 1 hour between the base coat and gloss coat.

It is up to you if you want to polish the wheels. That will get the wheels prepped for the coating and will allow the coating to last longer. Claying is not a bad idea. I would also recommend some sort of prep wipe after polishing prior to coating them.
To make it really simple you can use Sonax BSD every few washes. No need to add PNS right away. I have not used the new sonax spray and seal product but that is another option. All I know from speaking to the Sonax reps is that PNS and BSD share similar chemistry to the coating.

The wheels are a major pain to polish. I was thinking of perhaps just doing it by hand to rid of fine scratches. Some old 85rd on a small pad.
Wouldn’t an alcohol wipe down be okay before the coating ?

I might do the alcohol wipe down followed by the coating.

Striker- Isn`t the Clear a powdercoat?
I gotta admit I no longer stress about light/moderate marring on "Polished"/"Machined Finish" wheels...I just don`t Sooner or later (mine like that were old ten years ago) they`re just not perfect anymore no matter how much I put into them.

Accumulator- I don’t know to be honest w you ? I’ll have to double check.
I’ll be costing them with sonax ceramic coating this week or next.
All that aside- I’ve always used a ratio of 1:4 alcohol and water for panel wipe down.
Is this sufficient ?

If it works for *you* then yeah it is
But I use a Prep Product ( currently using up my AkyraKlean or whatever TOL calls their Prep Wash these days..and if coating I then with some solvent in case there`s a residue) as IPA never got Polishing Oils off all that well for me...but that`s just me and a lot of credible people swear by the IPA.
The clear powdercoat(?) on my Machined Finish wheels is awfully tough stuff and/but I`m paranoid about compromising it. That`s why I find it pretty easy to just not care, but in your case everything might be different...guys like SGM2008, and presumably you, are keeping those wheels a lot nicer than I am. (My excuse- Hey, these are old DD wheels )
Heh heh, guess you`ll have a better idea what that Clear really is once you`ve tried to correct it

I have alcohol washed clear powder coat-(Forgeline, and MMR), and also Honda, (which is clear coat paint). No difference .....they both take the coating fine......
If you have a problem with IPA, use carpro Eraser......
You are overthinking it......
