it`s got a funny smell, kind of like a solvent but not really. It`s been sitting open, even the dropper plug taken out, for over a week and the level is still the same. What is it that vinegar would react with??

Some reactions are acid or base catalyzed. So my thinking is that a small amount of vinegar would add both the acid to catalyze and additional water to hydrolyze the coating. That is, if it`s using the chemistry I have assumed.

First I poured some in the cap, didn`t see anything. I let it sit for a little while and didn`t see anything. I poured a little on the concrete, put a couple drops of vinegar on it and it ran off. I`ll put some on some plastic of some sort tomorrow and try again. I`m sure dirt and concrete kind of takes away from the experiment lol

My package containing the $8 coating has arrived at ISC NYC. It`s looking questionable whether it will make it to me for this weekend.

    My thought "process":

    Wash > Clay (Speedy Towel) > Meg`s Ultimate Compound > Meg`s #205 > CarPro Eraser > coating

I`ve never attempted to remove a coating before. Feeling a bit apprehensive about it.

Check with Dan on that one. He`s used that same coating. While most coatings are pretty close in the application process, flag time, and what exactly the coating does as it flashes can vary.

I did IPA just to make sure the surface was squeaky clean but who knows what the right process is.

No joy. The package did not make it to my local PO this morning. I guess I can attack this Monday...supposed to be much warmer.

I`m pleased with the process: Meg`s Ultimate Compound > M205

Surface looks great, flawlessly clean and bright. Been along time since this car has seen any serious TLC.

    Here`s what I got today:

No instructions, no applicator. Just the showy box and a generous bottle of coating.

Wow, you didn`t even get the cheapo MF towel that I received.

No towels. I thought the little applicator would be included. Can`t ever have too many of those.

Dan, did you find it slow to cure? I let it sit for 5 - 7 minutes and it still seemed very "wet". Took some time and effort to wipe everything down. I don`t like doing that - - I always feel like I`m wiping everything off

It boosted the gloss a bit, nothing dramatic. Hope to get a better look tomorrow in natural light.

Yes, mine was slow to cure as well, it was slimy/oily for a long time. Then when it did dry the surface felt very weird.

Re: How bad can an $8 coating be?

I wiped down for an extended period last night to get it to a point where I thought it should be. I dare say it looks quite good this morning apart from numerous bugs that landed in it over night.

I`m pleased with the overall appearance - - now we`ll have to wait and see what longevity is like.

Dan, are you feeling any love for this product?

I`m pleased with what I see so far. Appearance is good, gloss is good/uniform. Don`t see any evidence of high spots. I washed another car today and sprayed a little water on the hood of this car to inspect beading and it`s pretty darn good !

It`s good but McKee`s 37 is ridiculous good. That`s my issue, lol. Long term results are going to be the deciding factor.
